CO2? The Basic Material of Dry Ice? produces what is known as the greenhouse effect along with other gases in the atmosphere. At the present, the global concentration of carbon dioxide has been increasing by approximately 10 gigatons every year and about 25 % of that is caused just by destroying tropical forests. Another 75 % comes from burning fossil sources of energy while only about 0.015 % of the quantity of carbon dioxide released on an annual basis may be attributed to using dry ice. Since the carbon dioxide we use for producing dry ice is extracted from chemical waste gases, combustion gases or natural sources, this does not produce any additional greenhouse effect.
